We also had email and phone requests come in from all over the world!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .25in;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #444444;\">They came from far away to fill in the blank branches of their Family Trees. They found copies of<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davenportlibrary.com\/genealogy-and-history\/collections\/scott-county-records\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">birth, marriage and death records<\/span><\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>of their Scott County, Iowa ancestors. They came to do research on the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.davenportlibrary.com\/wittenmyer\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">Iowa Soldiers\u2019 Orphans\u2019 Home<\/span><\/a>,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.davenportlibrary.com\/davenport\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">Colonel George Davenport<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a>and<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.davenportlibrary.com\/bix\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">Bix Beiderbecke<\/span><\/a>. They looked at<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davenportlibrary.com\/genealogy-and-history\/collections\/newspapers\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">newspaper articles<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a>on microfilm,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davenportlibrary.com\/research\/online-databases\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">online databases<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a>we subscribe to and our<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.umvphotoarchive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">photograph collection<\/span><\/a>. Their searches were made easier by the many<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davenportlibrary.com\/genealogy-and-history\/free-local-databases\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #743399;\">indices<\/span><\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that have been prepared by our volunteers from the Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .25in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #444444;\">Last year we had visitors and research requests from 38 states, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Australia!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .25in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #444444;\">Our superlatives were: Avon Park, Florida, in the southeast and\u00a0Edmonds, Washington, in the northwest. Or e-mail patrons were from as far away as Treviglio, Italy, in the northeast; and Darlington, South Australia, which is almost as southwest as one can go!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: .25in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #444444;\">Check out this map with all of our visitors for the year 2014, as recorded in our Guest Book.
