
{"id":3720,"date":"2012-06-18T08:30:43","date_gmt":"2012-06-18T13:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs2.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/?p=3720"},"modified":"2012-06-20T16:11:04","modified_gmt":"2012-06-20T21:11:04","slug":"one-hundread-years-ago-tyler-school-class-of-1912","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2012\/06\/18\/one-hundread-years-ago-tyler-school-class-of-1912\/","title":{"rendered":"One hundread years ago: Tyler School Class of 1912"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On June 20, 1912, students from 12 grammar schools in Davenport received\u00a0diplomas.\u00a0Due to the large number of graduates that year,\u00a0the classes were split in two groups.\u00a0Students\u00a0from Washington, Monroe, Van Buren, Tyler, Taylor and Lincoln schools had their program at 10:00 am; while Madison, Jackson, Harrison, Polk, Fillmore and Buchannan schools received theirs at 2:30 pm. The ceremonies took place at the Davenport High School auditorium, with Davenport Schools Superintendent Frank L. Smart giving\u00a0the commencement address.<\/p>\n<p>We located a\u00a0glass negative of the Tyler School class of 1912 in our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.umvphotoarchive.org\/cdm4\/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=\/scdpl&amp;CISOPTR=1693&amp;CISOBOX=1&amp;REC=2\">Hostetler Photograph Collection<\/a>.
