
{"id":3213,"date":"2011-12-28T12:55:22","date_gmt":"2011-12-28T17:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs2.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/?p=3213"},"modified":"2011-12-28T12:55:22","modified_gmt":"2011-12-28T17:55:22","slug":"auld-lang-syne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/12\/28\/auld-lang-syne\/","title":{"rendered":"Auld Lang Syne . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2011 has been a good year around here.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve received many new resources from <a title=\"Just Shelved: Family Histories\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2009\/05\/11\/just-shelved-family-histories\/\">family histories<\/a> to <a title=\"Just Shelved: People, Places, Planes, and More!\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/08\/12\/just-shelved-people-places-planes-and-more\/\">land records<\/a>, Shakers to <a title=\"Just Shelved: Palatine Families\u2013and More\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2008\/04\/07\/just-shelved-palatine-families-and-more\/\">Palatines<\/a>.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve even added a few <a title=\"Introducing Footnote!\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2010\/08\/09\/introducing-footnote\/\">new databases<\/a> to our arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve had great programs, like our <a title=\"Specifically for Seniors: Your Family Tree \u2014 Finding Your Roots\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/08\/09\/specifically-for-seniors-your-family-tree-finding-your-roots\/\">Specifically for Seniors<\/a> genealogy class, <a title=\"Genealogy Night!\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/03\/23\/genealogy-night\/\">Genealogy Nights<\/a>, and visiting speakers like Lori Cox-Paul from the National Archives.<\/p>\n<p>We became Iowa&#8217;s first <a title=\"Davenport Inventors: Patently the Best\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/09\/08\/davenport-inventors-patently-the-best\/\">patent and trademark resource center<\/a>, on behalf of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.<\/p>\n<p>We wrote a year&#8217;s worth of <a title=\"A Fire Engine by Any Other Name\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/03\/03\/a-fire-engine-by-any-other-name\/\">interesting<\/a>, <a title=\"In Memoriam: Alice Richardson Sloane\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/08\/17\/in-memoriam-alice-richardson-sloane\/\">heartbreaking<\/a>, and <a title=\"Truth in Advertising: The Last Giraffe\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/sc\/2011\/09\/01\/truth-in-advertising-the-last-giraffe\/\">extremely silly<\/a> posts.<\/p>\n<p>And we&#8217;ve helped over thirteen hundred people with their historical and genealogical needs.<\/p>\n<p>But we have a feeling 2012 could be even better!<\/p>\n<p>More images will be added to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.umvphotoarchive.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Upper Mississippi Valley Digital Image Archive<\/a>, and we&#8217;ll be offering even more interesting programs and posts.<\/p>\n<p>And the 1940 Census will be arriving in April!<\/p>\n<p>You have the next eleven months to work on your family tree before next Thanksgiving&#8212;it&#8217;s never too early to start.<\/p>\n<p>Won&#8217;t you join us?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2011 has been a good year around here.
