Many long time genealogists and local historians will remember Mary Herr, who worked at the Davenport Public Library for more than 40 years.\u00a0 She had a great interest in genealogy and local history and spent her last working years assisting researchers in the Special Collections Center.<\/p>\n

Local history and genealogy researchers continue to benefit from Mary’s work.\u00a0 She was responsible for creating indexes to local news stories published in Davenport area newspapers and also worked to index other records.<\/p>\n

Mary loved to assist researchers and had a phenomenal memory.\u00a0 Once she helped you with your family research she always remembered not only who you were but the details of the family you were searching.<\/p>\n

Mary died on February 12, 2011.\u00a0 We’ll always be grateful for her dedication and expertise.<\/p>\n
