NBC is offering Who Do You Think You Are?, <\/em>which features celebrities researching their family history and their family\u2019s connections to historical events.\u00a0\u00a0 And\u00a0\u00a0PBS just wrapped up its four-episode run of Faces of America,\u00a0<\/em>which\u00a0explores the family histories of 12 celebrities through genealogy and the latest tools in genetics.<\/p>\n Have\u00a0these shows made you curious about your own\u00a0family history?\u00a0 Or were you interested before, but\u00a0aren’t sure how to start your research?<\/p>\n If so,\u00a0please consider registering\u00a0for our Beginning Genealogy Workshop this Saturday, March 13 from 8:30-4:00 at the Main Street Library.\u00a0 The workshop will be presented by our own Amy Groskopf, manager of the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center, and Donna McNamara, former director of the Family History Center.<\/p>\n Topics for the workshop include an\u00a0introduction to genealogy, record keeping,\u00a0census records and newspapers. You will also learn more about the Family History Center, Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society (SCIGS) and the many resources available at the Special Collections Center.
