Join our annual coloring event by picking up your colored pencils, crayons, or markers to embellish images from the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center! During #ColorOurCollections week (and after), the coloring sheets will be available to download here from the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center’s blog, Primary Selections from Special Collections.
Begun in 2016 by The New York Academy of Medicine Library, #ColorOurCollections is an annual coloring festival where libraries, museums, archives, and other cultural institutions share free coloring content featuring items from their collections.
The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center created its first coloring book in 2018. The contents of our coloring books feature illustrations from Iowa history books, the works of Patrick J. Costello, advertisements from city directories, images related to bodies of water, farm life, fairy tales from our Children’s exhibit collection, and illustrations from the 1925 Davenport High School Yearbook.
We want to see your artwork! Post pictures of your coloring skills on the Richardson-Sloane Special Collection Center’s Instagram, @davenportspecialcollections, or our Facebook page.
