Dragon Tattoo<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2136999\" target=\"_blank\">The Girl who Played with Fire<\/a><\/strong><\/em> and <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2245239\" target=\"_blank\">The Girl who Kicked the Hornet&#8217;s Nest<\/a><\/em>)<\/strong> and want to try a different type of\u00a0Swedish crime fiction, I would highly recommend Camilla L\u00e4ckberg&#8217;s first novel, <a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2264646\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>The Ice Princess<\/em><\/strong><\/a>,<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>set in the picturesque town of Fj\u00e4llbacka, Sweden.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Ice Princess<\/em><\/strong> centers around writer Erica Falck who returns to her hometown after the death of her parents in a car accident.\u00a0 Shortly after she arrives from Stockholm she happens to discover her childhood friend, Alexandra, who has died of an apparent suicide.\u00a0 Grieving for their daughter, Alexandra&#8217;s parents ask Erica to write an article about Alexandra for the local paper.\u00a0 While researching Alexandra&#8217;s death Erica runs into an old friend, Patrick, who is a police officer in town.\u00a0 The two discover many secrets about Fj\u00e4llbacka&#8217;s most prominent family whose\u00a0past\u00a0is intertwined with the death of Alexandra and\u00a0eventually learn\u00a0that her death may not have been at her own hand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Fjallbacka-1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img also included a beautiful photo of Fj\u00e4llbacka, Sweden\u00a0which happens to be the hometown of a friend.\u00a0 She\u00a0snapped this photograph over the summer\u00a0(which was taken late in the evening).\u00a0 Since\u00a0L\u00e4ckberg is also a native of this fishing village,\u00a0she uses authentic\u00a0street names, landmarks, and other notable and unique features of the village, including Ingrid Bergman Square, named for the Swedish actress who spent a good amount of time in Fj\u00e4llbacka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you have already read Steig
