From the Banned Books Week website: &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/bannedbooksweek.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banned Books Week<\/a> was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools. Typically (but not always) held during the last week of September, the annual event highlights the value of free and open access to information and brings together the entire book community \u2014 librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types \u2014 in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>LeVar Burton leads this week as the <a href=\"https:\/\/bannedbooksweek.org\/levar-burton-to-lead-2023-banned-books-week-as-honorary-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Honorary Chair<\/a>! Da&#8217;Taeveyon Daniels is the <a href=\"https:\/\/bannedbooksweek.org\/honorary-chairs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth Honorary Chair<\/a> for 2023.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2023, the American Library Association announced the Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2022 list. This list actually contains 13 books, due to ties. Below you will find the list of books as well as the reasons they were banned. Descriptions are provided by the publishers.
