They fall mostly into two categories:<\/p>\n<p><strong>General.<\/strong> <em>What If<\/em> Lincoln had lived? Or JFK? <em>What If<\/em> the Nazi&#8217;s had won World War II? <em>What If<\/em> Rome had not fallen? How would the world be different now? Better? Worse? Some titles that fall into this category include <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=910179\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>11\/22\/63<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Stephen King (about preventing the assisination of John F Kennedy), <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=526848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Fatherland<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Robert Harris (if the Nazi&#8217;s had won WWII), and multiple titles by Harry Turtledove. Or perhaps you believe history could use some spicing up &#8211; try Naomi Novik&#8217;s excellent <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=526848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>His Majesty&#8217;s Dragon<\/strong><\/em><\/a> where the Napoleonic Wars are fought with the help of dragons (it&#8217;s quite good &#8211; really!).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal.<\/strong> <em>What If<\/em> you could go back and make different choices in your own life? How would your life be different? Some examples would include <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=526848\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Andrew Greer about a woman who finds herself transported to other lives she might have\u00a0 lived: <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=521109\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Replay<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Ken Grimwood is about a man who dies repeatedly, only to wake as his younger self again and again, each time with a chance to reclaim a lost love, make a fortune on the stock market or correct a wrong; or <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=1133816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>If I Could Turn Back Time<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Beth Harbison about a successful but unhappy 38-year-old who, after a knock on her head, wakes up just before her 18th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>A kind of &#8220;sub-category&#8221; would be the <strong>Time Travel<\/strong> novels (remember, there are no Library Police! Read what interests you! Plus, I just made up this genre and I get to make the rules!) These would include <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=1078759\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Outlander<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Diana Gabaldon and it&#8217;s many sequels and <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=613692\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>The Time Traveler&#8217;s Wife<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Audrey Niffenegger.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to stop by any Davenport Library location and check out the Online Reading Challenge displays for lots more ideas and suggested titles.<\/p>\n<p>I am planning on reading <a href=\"http:\/\/rivershare.polarislibrary.com\/search\/title.aspx?ctx=14.1033.0.0.1&amp;cn=1219267\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>The Jane Austen Project<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Kathleen Flynn about two researchers that go back in time to recover a suspected unpublished Jane Austen novel.
