If a cross-section of Americans voted on their favorite book and made a list of the top 100, would\u00a0your\u00a0favorite\u00a0make the list?\u00a0Time to find out!<\/p>\n<p>PBS has launched a program called The Great\u00a0American Read which producers say is &#8220;designed to spark a national conversation about reading and the books that have inspired, moved, and shaped us.&#8221;\u00a0 The first of eight episodes aired on\u00a0May 22, 2018.\u00a0 It\u00a0featured some famous people like George R.R. Martin, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Venus Williams, Wil Wheaton, Chelsea Clinton, and Jenna Bush Hager\u00a0and\u00a0Barbara Bush\u00a0sharing what they love about their personal favorites &#8211;\u00a0<em>The Lord of the Rings, Gulliver&#8217;s Travels, The Chronicles of Narnia, Dune, Where the Red Fern Grows<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>The Book Thief,<\/em>respectively.\u00a0If you missed it &#8211; don&#8217;t worry.\u00a0You can <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/the-great-american-read\/watch\/\">watch\u00a0it\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The final episode is scheduled to air some time in October 2018, according to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/the-great-american-read\/about\/show\/\">the show&#8217;s official website<\/a><\/strong>. Until that time, Americans are encouraged to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/the-great-american-read\/vote\/#\">go online and vote<\/a><\/strong> for their favorite book. One vote per day is allowed.<\/p>\n<p>If you are curious about how many books from the list you&#8217;ve read, download <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bento.cdn.pbs.org\/hostedbento-prod\/filer_public\/greatamericanread\/TGAR_BookChecklist_2018.pdf\">the checklist<\/a><\/strong> and start counting! (I&#8217;m at 23 so far.) My personal favorite is <em>To Kill a Mockingbird<\/em> by Harper Lee. I first read it in 9th grade English class and have loved it ever since. If you, like me, are eager to check more titles off that list, be sure to look for the displays we have at each of our three locations where you can easily find and check one out.<\/p>\n<p>As the show&#8217;s host Meredith Viera says, &#8220;The Great American Read is happening all across the country, all summer long.
