No filters showing up in the landfill.  And after you\u2019re done with it, swish the grounds around in some water and dump them onto a potted plant or garden bed of your choice.  Apparently, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.simplegiftsfarm.com\/coffee-grounds-and-gardening.html\" target=\"_blank\">plants love the stuff<\/a><\/strong> and worms will turn rock hard clay into aerated loam because you discarded your morning joe bilge there.<\/p>\n<p>2)You use less coffee.\u00a0 I reckon up to a third less.\u00a0 There are a lot of oils and nuanced flavors that come through that you weren\u2019t getting before.  So your coffee dollar goes further.   Frugal readers know that is one greenback that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/77e17288-8765-11e0-af98-00144feabdc0.html?ftcamp=rss#axzz1NTgkw1px\" target=\"_blank\">isn\u2019t going near as far as it used to in the global marketplace<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3)You get more caffeine.  There are scientific types that take this stuff very seriously\u2026to a lab coat level.\u00a0    They\u2019ve determined <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetmarias.com\/brewinstr\/brewinginstr.frenchpress.php\" target=\"_blank\">optimum extraction<\/a><\/strong> occurs somewhere between 190 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit.\u00a0  Your Mr. Coffee percolator is at best about forty degrees shy of that mark.\u00a0  If you slug it out of a wide-brimmed soup cup like I do, cool down time is not an issue.<\/p>\n<p>4)You get a whole bunch of counter space back.  Think of all the cool stuff you could put there instead!<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, so you\u2019ve got to learn how to boil a small amount of water and you can\u2019t set a wake-up timer on it.\u00a0  Buck up.  You get to feel like a chemistry major without floating a D grade-point average.\u00a0 Also, you\u2019ll have to start looking at the microwave to see if you\u2019re running late.
