{"id":10921,"date":"2011-03-15T06:00:13","date_gmt":"2011-03-15T12:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs2.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/?p=10921"},"modified":"2011-03-08T16:06:12","modified_gmt":"2011-03-08T22:06:12","slug":"the-inner-circle-by-brad-meltzer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/the-inner-circle-by-brad-meltzer\/","title":{"rendered":"The Inner Circle by Brad Meltzer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2280960\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10990\" title=\"inner circle\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/inner-circle3.bmp\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>Recently, I met best-selling author Brad Meltzer in a Chicago book store.\u00a0 Naturally, I picked up an autographed copy of his newest novel, <a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2280960\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>The Inner Circle<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 (He had a large following\u00a0&#8212; I had to wait in line a long time!)<\/p>\n<p>The book revolves around Beecher White, a young archivist who loves his job at the National Archives.\u00a0 When his childhood\u00a0crush, Clementime, shows up seeking help in tracking down the father she never knew, he takes her on a private tour,\u00a0and even shows her\u00a0the secret vault used only by the\u00a0 President.\u00a0 Within moments ( is it by accident or plan?) they discover a priceless artifact hidden under the President&#8217;s chair.\u00a0 Minutes later, the security guard who admitted them to the vault\u00a0is found dead.\u00a0 In hours,\u00a0 Beecher is on the run, unsure who he can trust,\u00a0 yet\u00a0frantically trying to stay one-step ahead of his pursuers by successfully decoding\u00a0concealed\u00a0messages.<\/p>\n<p>This is a fast-paced read and those interested in political conspiracies or action-packed thrillers will be entertained with all the unexpected twists and turns.\u00a0 Initially, I wasn&#8217;t certain about the ending, but then it made more sense when\u00a0I read that\u00a0 Meltzer has a sequel planned,\u00a0using\u00a0\u00a0Beecher again as the primary\u00a0character.\u00a0 He is\u00a0a rather lovable archivist, after all.<\/p>\n<p>For those who may be further intrigued by the mysteries of symbols and codes, check out the author&#8217;s show\u00a0on the History Channel, <em><strong>Brad Meltzer&#8217;s Decoded. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I met best-selling author Brad Meltzer in a Chicago book store.\u00a0 Naturally, I picked up an autographed copy of his newest novel, The Inner Circle.\u00a0 (He had a large following\u00a0&#8212; I had to wait in line a long time!)
