will soon be upon us!\u00a0 If you&#8217;re also looking for some help or motivation in getting a little toned up before it gets really hot out there, check out these\u00a0titles on our &#8220;New Materials&#8221; shelves.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2316626 \" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10660 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/pilates.jpg?resize=184%2C248&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"248\" \/>Pilates Practice Companion<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>is a beautiful book with tons of color photograhps.\u00a0 The book has several different sections featuring exercises at different levels: beginning, intermediate and advanced, as well as other chapters, such as &#8220;Maturing with Pilates.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0It also has\u00a0two-page spreads with 15, 30 or 45-minute routines which would certainly simplify any home workout.\u00a0 Another\u00a0advantage is that it also shows photographs of &#8220;common faults.&#8221;\u00a0 When I first starting taking Pilates classes, the instructor\u00a0would come around and correct our form.\u00a0 Often I thought I was doing a move correctly, only to have her alter my position by what seemed like an inch or less, taking me from &#8220;oh, this is okay&#8221; to &#8220;ohmygosh this is hard!&#8221; \u00a0A final plus is that\u00a0the author, Alycea Ungaro, is well-known in her field, having\u00a0written several\u00a0books on the subject as well as\u00a0having trained many celebrity clients, such as Madonna.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/search.prairiecat.info\/?itemid=|library\/marc\/PALS-unicorn|2303616\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blogs.davenportlibrary.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/fleibility.jpg?resize=176%2C247&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"176\" height=\"247\" \/>Full Body Flexibilty\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/strong>by Jay Blahnick\u00a0is another great book whose message is enhanced with\u00a0wonderful photos.\u00a0\u00a0 Our staff is\u00a0now doing stretching exercises at work each day (just for a few minutes) but those interested in taking it to the next level would be well-served by this resource.\u00a0 One feature that&#8217;s particularly useful is that the stretches are\u00a0divided by different sections of the body.\u00a0 So, for example, if you had back or hip problems, you could concentrate on those stretches.\u00a0 I think this book will prove popular:\u00a0 I had it out at a public desk while working on this blog and a patron asked if she could check it out.\u00a0 Absolutely.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what we&#8217;re all about!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00a0don&#8217;t know about you, but the warmer weather we&#8217;ve been having has made me realize that &#8220;swimsuit season&#8221;
