Kirigami at Anime Club

January 2, 2012

Join us for the first Anime Club of 2012 tomorrow night from 5:30-7:30 at the Fairmount St. library.  We’ll watch some of our favorite Anime and take our origami skills to a whole new level with some cool Kirigami crafting.  It’s a fairly easy art with singularly spectacular results.

String Creatures at Tuesday’s Anime Club

October 31, 2011

Did you know that DPL’s Teen Anime Club meets at the Fairmount St. Library from 5:30-7:30 on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month?  True story, it does.

At tomorrow night’s Teen Anime Club we’ll be making some super awesome string creatures!  We hope you can make it as we’ll also be screening some new Anime DVDs and reliving the fun times we had at the Teen Anime Fest held at the Figge two weeks ago.  It’s safe to say we’re still on a candy sushi sugar buzz.  Buzzzzzzzzz.  See, told ya.

Oh, and here are some cool examples from the string creature program we held this summer:

Anime Club 2009

January 6, 2009

ghost huntAnime Club is tonight @ 5:30 at the Fairmount St. Library.  Tonight we will be playing Anime Trivia!  Also, we will be previewing a new DVD from Operation Anime called Ghost Hunt.  Check out this description from their website:

The dead have something to say…

The appeal of the unknown is undeniable and freshman Mai Taniyama is hooked. This fact, coupled with her burgeoning psychic powers, leads Mai to join the ranks of the Shibuya Psychic Research team. Led by enigmatic Kazuya “Naru” Shibuya, she works alongside a spirit medium and a shrine maiden, an exorcist and a monk to uncover the darkest mysteries of the unseen. Using state of the art technology and their respective spiritual gifts, evil is confronted and vanquished time and again.

Death is temporary and far worse fates await those which meet a harsh end. From the trembling walls of a haunted school to the bottom of a well that beckons to dead children, the horrors of reality unfold.

Let It Snow??

December 1, 2008

Okay, so we haven’t had all that much snow yet…but…in the event that we get a good dumping or two, you can bet I’ll have the Anime Club creating snow sculptures of their favorite characters like this one:

In the meantime, join us for some indoor fun at DPL’s Anime Club.  The next meeting is tomorrow night!  It sure is nice, cozy, warm, and usually dry inside the Fairmount Library, especially next to the fireplace.  If you get here early you can always grab a graphic novel and thaw out library-style.  Anime Club starts at 5:30.  This time around we’ll have all the fixings for more Shrinky Dink adventures.  Oh, and here are a few cool key chains and magnets that the teens created at last month’s meeting:
