DPL Teens

To help kick things off, Bella Rocks! will be performing at the Fairmount St. Library on Saturday at 4pm!  And it’s FREE!!

Oh yeah – listen up Twilight fans:

Wizard rock band, Bella Rocks has been booked to help us celebrate the kickoff of the 2009 Summer Reading Program.  Her vampy songs are inspired by the one-and-only Twilight Saga (Stephenie Meyer), and are comparable to the sounds of Paramore and Avril Lavigne.  Mark your calendars now for the party – Saturday, June 13th.  The party starts at 1 p.m. and Bella Rocks hits the stage at 4:00.

There’s now just 2 weeks left until Twilight the movie, based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novel, hits theaters across the country!  That’s means that DPL’s Twilight party is just around the corner.  It’s on Wednesday, November 19th, from 5:30-7:30 at the Fairmount Library to be exact.  Hope you can make it!

We have great activities lined up for all the fans, such as an Edward vs. Jacob debate, a howling contest, Twilight trivia, and pin-the-tail on the werewolf.  There will be fantastic prizes, too.  Twilight soundtrack, anyone?  Would you prefer a poster of Jacob or a poster of Edward?  We also have movie tickets to give away and plan to show the extended trailer on the Library’s big screen.

Twilight is currently one of the most requested books at DPL, by both teens and adults.  It centers around a 17 yr. old girl who moves to a small town in Washington.  She meets a beautiful and desirable high school senior named Edward Cullen, who also happens to be a vampire. (zoinks!)  As their love blossoms, danger is lurking around the corner.  Praised as “extraordinarily suspenseful,” and a “love story with bite,” Twilight has proved itself as the next great thing in young adult literature.

So, to all the Twilight fans out there it’s time to jump up and down for a minute, let out a tiny joyous scream, and call your friends to let them know that you’re all invited to a Twilight party at the Fairmount St. Library on Wednesday, November 19th, from 5:30-7:30.  Uh-huh.  That’s just two days before Twilight the movie is set to make its debut in theaters nationwide.  Join us for an evening of all things Twilight!  Participants will even have the chance to score free movie tickets just in time for the opening of one of the most highly anticipated films.

Plus, we also have lots of fun activities planned for the celebration.  There will be Twilight trivia, pin the tail on the werewolf, a Jacob vs. Edward debate, a howling contest, we’ll make red duct tape roses, and have a who loves Edward the most contest.  There will even be werewolf and vampire cupcakes on hand for you to sink your fangs into.  Don’t miss out!
