MORE NEW STEPHENIE MEYER!!! WHAAAA?!! Equinox–New Moon from Jacob’s perspective

April 1, 2010

Just keep ‘em coming, Stephenie Meyer!

Just a few days after she announced a new Twilight Saga related novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, fans have unlocked an even bigger surprise from the just released DVD of New Moon (Two-Disc Special Edition): MEYER HAS WRITTEN A VERSION OF NEW MOON FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF JACOB!!!

I have only read the few pages of Equinox so far, but OMG it is gooooooood! After the debacle with Midnight Sun, the Edward version of Twilight, Meyer has decided to merely give this one up freely to fans from the beginning. Although you have to work to find it–(it is like a twenty step process: turn on french subtitles, press pause when you see the word “plaisanterie”, and on and on and on…) Luckily, other fans have already done the dirty work and you can see Equinox in its entirety HERE!!!! And if you want to unlock the text yourself, you can put a hold on New Moon here! Gosh I love secret awesome things! Let us know what you think of it…

Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion. Graphic Spotlight: Twilight and friends

March 17, 2010

Twilight: The Graphic Novel Volume 1 by Stephenie Meyer and Young KimFirst thing I did when I got home last night? I curled up with a brand spanking new copy of Twilight: The Graphic Novel Volume 1. And it was awesome.

It has been awhile since I read the first book, so I can’t make a judgment call on how faithful the graphic novel was to the original text but there was one big change that surprised me: I actually liked Bella. What?! I didn’t like Bella in the book?! Weeeeelll, I didn’t not like her exactly–I just found her attitude towards other females extremely annoying. However, something about the way Young Kim draws her expressions makes her totally adorable in the Graphic Novel! Oh, and her crazy voluptuous, shiny hair is utterly captivating.

Now on the flipside, I found Edward less likeable when in graphic form; he kinda looks like the token jerk from a late 80′s after school program.

Overall, Kim’s work is fantastic: the variation in line texture, the soft photographic backdrops, and the subtle, poignant color changes give the graphic novel incredible feeling. Swoon, can you hear my heart beating?! I can’t wait for Volume 2!

Twilight isn’t the only series to go graphic. Check out these other popular titles that have had an illustrator’s touch:

This week is Stephenie Meyer! This lady’s a bit harder to contact than some of the others now that she has removed her myspace page (and she has never had a facebook or twitter account, so don’t believe imposters!) but she has definitely done some pretty cool things for her fans (including a CONCERT TOUR what? see Amber’s Stephenie Meyer Adventure below.)

Amber’s Stephenie Meyer Adventure:

My nerdgirls and I got lucky and Stephanie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn Concert Series was playing in Chicago just a day before we were going to be in the city for Terminus, a Harry Potter conference (there seems to be a total trend here relating between HP conferences and YAuthor Stalking). I dialed the number to the Harris Theater for 3 hours straight on a very hot day in June in order to get us tickets. When August 5 came around, I had not been able to even start the book yet as I had come down with mono a few days before (awesome, I know) and had been trying to sleep as much as possible before going to Chicago. At the concert, Stephenie Meyer answered tons of questions about the series (Needless to say, I knew EVERYTHING that happened in Breaking Dawn before reading it, oh well). She then invited Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld to sing several of his songs that had inspired scenes in the Saga, including the song “Hate Me” which Stephenie correlates to Edward’s feelings in New Moon. Unfortunately, due to my mono, a train schedule and an EXTREMELY slow-moving line, we were unable to actually meet Stephenie Meyer and get our books signed :-( But the concert was still an awesome experience.

Have you met Stephenie Meyer? Do you have a YAuthor Adventure to share? Email Amber and we might post it on a YAuthor Stalking Tuesday!
