Book Trailer Thursday: Abandon

April 28, 2011

You know we are big Meg Cabot fans here at the Davenport Public Library, so we are V. EXCITED to read her newest book, Abandon, which is a modern retelling of the Greek myth about Persephone.

And did you hear that Meg Cabot will be in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday July 12th at 7:00 p.m. at Ballantyne Auditorium, Kirkwood College?!!! This summer is going to be AWESOME.

Avalon High: A Teen in King Arthur’s Court

November 10, 2010

The newest Disney Channel movie, Avalon High, premieres THIS FRIDAY at 7 pm! Here’s the trailer:

Soooo it looks pretty different from Meg Cabot’s book…but we’ll have to wait until Friday to find out if those changes make the movie more exciting or just mess up the fun plot that Meg Cabot developed–I am already pretty concerned that Disney changed Ellie’s name to Allie. I know it seems like a minor thing to those of you who haven’t read the book, but names are kind of a big deal in this story. Anyway, I am super excited to see all the ridiculously fancy King Arthur costumes!

Meanwhile, back at the library…

Check out Avalon High and these other neato Arthurian novels (click on the book covers for more info):

Amber’s Meg Cabot Adventure:
Last February, I jumped in the car with a bunch of nerdy girls and drove to Naperville,IL to meet Meg Cabot at the Children’s Literature Breakfast put on by Anderson’s Bookshop. I had emailed her a couple days before telling her to keep an eye out for us, so when we bombarded her at her table to give her a Meg Cabot doll we had fashioned out of a Barbie the night before, she was not weirded out at all :-) She even mentioned meeting us in her blog that evening which resulted in much screaming and dancing around the apartment.

Meg Cabot! Twitter! Book! What?!

February 15, 2010

Those are like three of my favoritest things! Tomorrow (February 16, 2010), Meg Cabot will twitter the first line of a novel and then we other twitterers will twitter the rest! So interactive, super-collaborative!!!

-To read the story, you just need to go to the BBC Audiobooks America twitter page: @BBCAA

-To add to the story, you will need to have a twitter account. Click here to join! Then send your contribution to @BBCAA and end it with the #bbcawdio tag. For example: @BBCAA And then the zombies arrived wearing princess dresses. #bbcawdio

-And to REALLY get how the collaboration is happening, search twitter for the #bbcawdio tag and you’ll get to see everybody’s contributions and compare them to the ones that get chosen for the actual story. Crazy stuff!

I AM SO EXCITED!

Check out more details here at the BBC Audiobooks America page.
