Stuff To Do

TUESDAYS:  Our Tuesday night teen programs meet from 5:30-7:00 at the Fairmount St. Library.  No registration is required for the Tuesday night programs.  Check out the current line up:

1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month:  Anime Club

2nd Tuesday of the month:  Teen Volunteer Council

WEDNESDAYS:  Running every Wednesday from 3-5 at the Fairmount St. Library is the ever-popular Get Your Game On program.  We play a variety of video games on 6 screens, hang with friends, play board games, and many online games, too.  All are welcome to join the fun in this laid back atmosphere–no registration required.  Oh, and sometimes we have tournaments, too, but just for funzies.  Be sure to stop by soon and put your Guitar Hero, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Dance Dance Revolution, and Mario Kart skills to the test!   Please note:  Teens are welcome to bring in their own systems and games, although we only play games rated ‘E for Everyone’ or ‘T for Teen’

Should you have any questions concerning teen programs please email the Youth Services & Programming Supervisor, Liza Gilbert, at or give the Youth Services & Programming Dept. a call at 563-326-7832.

So, out of curiosity, what ages of people usually show up at these “Get Your Game On!” things? It sounds like fun, however I’m 22…and new to the area, so I don’t really know what there is to do around here.

  • Christie says:

It’s a teen program, which we try to limit to 6th through 12th graders. There are a few older teens who still come regularly and it works out well for the gaming crowd. You are more than welcome to stop by and check it out! We love new faces and could fill you in on all the fun times to be had around town…especially at the libraries!

  • Hailey says:

Just wondering but what kinds of video games are at this ‘Get your game on’??

  • Amber says:

    Hi Hailey!
We play all kinds at Get Your Game On–Rock Band, Just Dance, Little Big Planet, Mario, pretty much whatever –is there a game you wanna suggest? We always have several systems going at once, so there is usually a game for everyone.

How old do you have to be to work at the library? Sorry if it’s not related to the topic

  • Christie says:

You have to be at least 16 to work at the library. Applications can be picked up at the Reference/Info Desks at each of our locations. Just ask a librarian for one if you’re interested. Let us know if you have any other questions…thanks!
