We’re all set for another smashing video contest screening event at the Putnam Museum’s IMAX Theatre this Thursday night. All are welcome to attend this spectacular teen program! The pre-party with pizza and refreshments will begin at 6pm. Just prior to 7:00, the participants will walk the red carpet into the theatre just in time for the 7:00 screening debut of their videos.

Special thanks to the Putnam Museum & IMAX Theatre for donating the use of their space for our 4th Annual Teen YouTube Video Contest Screening Event, and to Papa John’s and Pizza Hut (both on Locust St. in Davenport) for their pizza donations this year. 4th Annual Video Contest & IMAX Screening

February 22, 2011

Yes, yes, yes!  It’s time for the 4th Annual Teen YouTube Video Contest and screening event at the Putnam Museum’s IMAX Theatre.  You know, the place with the GIANT screen!

All QC-Area teens are invited to make videos, upload them to YouTube, turn in the entry form to their local library, and then enjoy a night of celebration and awards at the screening event.  Did we mention participants get to see their videos on the giant IMAX screen?!  And that the event is free!?  And you can win $100!  When are you going to get another chance like this?  It’s time to make a video…

Themes for this year’s contest are:

-Book Mashups  (mash up two of your favorite books into a new story)

-Live Action Anime  (bring your favorite Anime to life)

-SRP Promo  (make a commercial for our Summer Reading Program–this year’s SRP theme is YOU ARE HERE)

-Geek Confessionals  (show and tell your most embarrassing/geeky habits, interests, etc.)

As always, feel free to take a theme and make it your own.

Click this link for an entry form with all the event rules/details.  The videos should be 5 minutes or less.  They must be uploaded to YouTube by Saturday, March 12, 2011.  Don’t forget to include the title and URL of your video on the entry form!  Entry forms must be turned into your local library during Teen Tech Week, which runs March 6th-12th.  Also, teens are allowed to enter more than one video.

This year the red carpet IMAX screening event will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 7pm at the Putnam Museum & IMAX Theatre.  A pre-party for the teen participants and their guests will be at 6pm.

Oh, wait!  We just added a bonus theme–which you could also enter in another contest sponsored by the American Library Association.  The bonus theme:

-Why I Need My Library

For more details please contact your local teen librarian or call DPL at 563-326-7832.  See you on the red carpet!

Mmm I’m going to smell like green apples.
