DPL’s Teen Summer Reading Program is underway.  If you haven’t registered yet stop by one of our 3 locations and sign up today!  All you need to do to register is provide us with some basic info–name, email, yada yada–and then we’ll give you a Summer Reading Log.  Use the log to keep track of what you read from June 2nd through August 2nd–you get 1 point per page.  Teens can also get points for attending library programs, listening to audio books, writing reviews, volunteering, and more.  Add them all up and when you reach 500 points you can redeem your halfway prize.  After you hit 1,000 points, turn in your log to receive a FREE BOOK and we’ll also enter you into a grand prize drawing.  Wahoo!  Plus, we have tons of cool programs for teens going on all summer long.  Oh, and remember–you get points for attending programs, too.  Win!  Win!

Stay tuned to the blog as we’ll soon preview many of the great programs we have lined up for you this summer.  Hunger Games Party–what?!!  Battle of the Bands–yes please!  Breaking Dawn Party AND How to Slay a Vampire–head explodes.  This summer could be quite a scorcher so don’t forget you can always stay cool at DPL…the air conditioning is free, so are the library cards, not to mention all the various items you can check out and take home.  Uh, just remember to bring them back.  Otherwise, that’ll cost ya.

Let’s wrap up the Teen Summer Craft programs with an All American Tie Dye party.  WOOT!  Each participant will be given one t-shirt to tie dye and take home.  Whether or not you put it on your dog is up to you…and your dog.

We did this program last year and it was so much fun we just have to give it another go.  You won’t want to miss the final teen program of the summer.  It’s tomorrow!  Be there.

Please note:  Participants are encouraged to wear old clothes in case of splatters.  They are also welcome to bring in more items to dye if they so choose.  Please leave your dogs at home…woof.
