It’s that time of year again–
TIME TO CELEBRATE YOUR
FREEDOM TO READ!
No more teen craft programs. The Summer Reading Program ends on Saturday. Grump. Sigh. How do we deal with this?
There’s only one way: BEACH PARTY!
What better way to end the summer than with a friendly hula hoop contest, followed by a few rounds of musical beach towels, maybe a water balloon toss, a little beachball volleyball, and even some ice cream with sprinkles on top?
Can’t think of a better way.
So, your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to show up at the Fairmount Library at 3:00 tomorrow in your tie-dyed t-shirt (that you made at the library this summer), carrying your duct tape beach bag (that you made at the library this summer) with a picture of your balloon animal (that you made at the library this summer) in the seashell/button encrusted photo frame (that you made at the library this summer), with your stylin’ flip-flops on (that you made at the library this summer). Oh, and bring a friend and make them wear the bleach pen decorated t-shirt (that you made at the library this summer). Do it. If you choose to accept this mission you will be rewarded lavishly. Plus, you will make our day, probably our summer, and quite possibly even our year. Forilla. Do it!
Come see! Come see! Come see!

Do you feel strongly about getting people registered to vote? Well, here’s something you might want to help out with:
The HP Alliance is looking for 2 volunteers at every wizard rock concert across the country for Wizard Rock the Vote. As a volunteer, the bands will provide you with a clipboard and registration forms to sign people up to vote for the November election.
If you are interested in being one of these awesome volunteers please use the [form] or send an email directly to email@example.com
Don’t believe us that the library is a place to ROCK?! Here is a teensy taste of the sounds that will be erupting from the Eastern Branch Library on July 10th at 2 pm:
P.S. The awesome movie they are advertising is We Are Wizards–a documentary directed by Josh Koury about Harry Potter fans that features Harry and the Potters, Melissa Anelli, Brad Neely (the creator of Wizard People, Dear Reader) and lots of others (including a sixteen year old girl who organized a successful boycott against Warner Brothers when they tried to shut down HP fansites!). And guess what?! You can watch it for free online thanks to Hulu!
