Currently we are able to trace Rebecca McMurtrey Wentz as far as 1870. She married a Samuel Jones in Dubuque, Iowa in 1865.

By 1870 she is Rebecca Jones living with Samuel, his daughter Laura, and her son Frank Wentz in Richland, Marshall County, Illinois.

After that Rebecca disappears along with Samuel and Laura. We find Frank Wentz in 1880 living in Salem, Dent County, Missouri. We know members of the McMurtrey (McMurtry) family also lived there including Rebecca's mother. - Amy D.

To 'Amy D.' who posted this article...Thank You.

I am the great-great grandson of Augustus Wentz. Not much was known about the family because his son -- Frank Wentz -- died when his kids were young. Little information was passed along through the family.

If anyone knows what happened to Rebecca Wentz; I would appreciate being contacted.

Thank you again.
