Help Support the New Eastern Avenue Library

Help Support the New Eastern Avenue Library

The Davenport Public Library needs just $112,000 to secure a $1.2 million dollar Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Grant to help buildthe Eastern Avenue Library, and the FRIENDS of the Library are offering the citizens a great opportunity to contribute. Join us for thefirst ever“RE@D – River-city Entertainment at Davenport – Variety Show” on Saturday, April 11, at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at North High School.

The 101.3 KUUL FM morning guys, Mark Manual and Steve Ketelaar, will emcee the star-studded event. Daniel Sheridan, the Arts Coordinator for the City of Davenport and Director of Junior Theater, will direct the diverse ensemble cast in the production.

Scheduled to appear are: The Myers Brothers Band; Comedy Sportz; children’s entertainer and songwriter, Steve Couch; street performer, Dan Hale; tap dancing from the Center Stage Dancers; the Central High School ska rock band, Firesale; vocalist, Sarah Ulloa; the North High School Show Choir; magician, David Casas; vocalist, Ryan Westwood; the Belle Academy of Dance; Ballet Folklorico; two barbershop quartets; the Family Museum Dance Company; Quad Cities Poet Laureate, Dale Haake; and local blues sensation, Ellis Kell.

Sheridan is thrilled at the opportunity to direct such an all-star lineup of entertainers.

“The collection of talent assembled for the RE@D Variety Show is thrilling.  The chance to lead this group is an amazing opportunity.  For both the audience and artists, I know that the performance will be crisp, professional, and fun.  I recently returned home after a year of studying theatre at the University of Connecticut and traveling doing theatre around the nation.  I can guarantee this performance is one not to be missed!”

FRIENDS Board President, Tom Brooke, is also in awe at such an outpouring of community support.

“When we decided to put this show together, I knew it had to be great. We have an outstanding lineup of quality acts that if appearing alone would draw hundreds of people. Put them all together and we have a variety show that could go on tour professionally. It will be a great time for all, and it will support a great service – the Davenport Public Library.”
