THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT: WWI to WWII

The Davenport Public Library, Bettendorf Public Library, and Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities are partnering to bring the area an unprecedented four-part lecture series covering the history of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, presented by Dr. Art Pitz.

Lecture 1 – “A History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict: Pre-WWI”will happen on Monday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bettendorf Public Library (2950 Learning Campus Drive). Lecture 2 – “WWI through WWII and Aftermath,”will happen on Monday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the Davenport Public Library Eastern Avenue Branch (3000 Eastern Avenue). Lecture 3, exploring the years of 1948-1967, will happen on Monday, March 21, at 7:00 p.m. at the Bettendorf Public Library. The final lecture, covering 1967 to the present, will happen on Monday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Davenport Public Library Eastern Avenue Branch. This series is appropriate for teens through adults.

Dr. Art Pitz has been studying and teaching about the modern Middle East for many years. He and his wife have been to Israel and the West Bank several times and have developed friendships in both areas. This program is funded by the FRIENDS of the Davenport Public Library, the FRIENDS of the Bettendorf Public Library, and the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities.
