Lights, camera, ACTION! Does your child want to be involved with a ground-breaking new program where kids create, write, and record their very own television show? You don’t want to miss “KidTV,” where kids are in charge of production!

This NEW, highly original program will meet every Thursday at 4:00 p.m., now through May, at the Davenport Public Library Fairmount Branch (3000 N. Fairmount Street). Kids will learn how to write, film, design sets, and have fun creating the news. Shows will appear on the library’s YouTube channel (, the city’s cable channel, and other social media sites. This program is appropriate for elementary-aged kids and ‘tweens.
“Our goal is to create a modern library experience that integrates library resources, both print and online; and our technology resources, like our computers and camera equipment. I think we found it with this program,” said Angela Campbell, PR/Programming Coordinator.

Each week kids will learn new library resources which will help them write their stories. They will also learn how to set up the video cameras, audio, lighting, green screens, and sets.

“We have the means to make this a very real experience for the kids. If they decide they want to do the weather forecast in front of the green screen, we’ll teach them how. If they want to interview people using the library, that will work, too. We’re open to any stories they’d like to cover,” Campbell said.

Registration is not required and there is no cost to join the KidTV Crew. For more information about this program, call Steve at (563) 328-6833.
