The end is near. The long-awaited finale of the Harry Potter movie franchise is coming. The first installment of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, also known as “HP7,” happens on November 19. What better way to celebrate a literary character than at a library! The Davenport Public Library is hosting a Harry Potter Party on Thursday, November 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the Fairmount Branch Library (3000 N. Fairmount Street), and everyone is invited!
Participants will enjoy games, contests, crafts, and HP PRIZES! Participate in Triwizard Trivia and Transfiguration Dueling, a costume parade, and the Bertie Bott’s bean tasting contest. Make sure you wear your most creative Harry Potter-inspired costume so you can compete in the costume contest! Enjoy free refreshments, including polyjuice potions, dragon eggs, and cauldron cakes.
Why is this celebration for all ages? If a child was 9 years old when he/she began reading the Harry Potter series, that child would now be 21. If a child was 9 years old when he/she began watching the Harry Potter movies, that child would now be old enough to vote. Harry Potter transcends time. Its lessons are universal and imaginative. Adults, teens, and kids alike can agree the books will be forever classics. The movies heighten the reading experience, providing visuals that we all saw in our heads and can now see on the big screen. Don’t let the “end” come without celebrating a book and movie character of a lifetime.
