Banned Books Week Podcast of Chris Crutcher

Banned Books Week Podcast of Chris Crutcher

2009.04.30 Chris Crutcher

As part of Banned Books Week, we are replaying a podcast of a visit that Chris Crutcher made to the Davenport Public Library about a year and a half ago as part of “Super Author Week.”  Listen to what Chris has to say about “Fostering Free Speech and Open Discourse.”  After listening to this podcast, be sure to stop by your local library and pick up one of Chris’ books and let us know what you think of his writings and whether they deserved to be banned and why?  We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

For more information about Banned Books Week visit www.ala.org/bbooks and be sure to visit your Davenport Public Library and check out some BANNED BOOKS!

BANNED BOOKS WEEK – SEPTEMBER 25 – OCTOBER 2

BANNED BOOKS WEEK – SEPTEMBER 25 – OCTOBER 2

Visit any of the Davenport Public Libraries between September 25 – October 2 and check out some banned or challanged books. We will have a special display setup at each location for your convenience. Then, let us know your opinion on the book you read or your opinion in general on your “Freeedom to Read!”

It’s your right!

OBI Presents “In Love We Trust”

OBI Presents “In Love We Trust”

Come visit the new Eastern Avenue Branch Library on Wednesday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy a free movie, popcorn, and lemonade!  This month Off-Beat Independent Films presents, “In Love We Trust.”  A divorced couple learns that the only way to save their little daughter Hehe, who suffers from a blood disease, is to have another child. Now both remarried, Mei Zhu and Xiao Lu are forced to test their love and their commitment to one another by putting their current relationships in danger. A story of parenthood, love, married life, betrayal, trust and giving, In Love We Trust touches upon changes in contemporary society and family life, as well as the moral and ethical dilemmas brought on by modernity.
