Bill Hannan, Professor Emeritus of Art at Black Hawk College, will be at Davenport Public Library’s Fairmount Street location on Wednesday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m., to do a fun, spirited presentation entitled, “The Golden Age of Radio.”
Hannan’s program is gleaned from his collection of old radio programs, acquired while he was in the Army and worked in broadcasting. His presentation is made up of actual “air check” tapes and recreations that present the wide spectrum of the radio broadcast experience. News, drama, music, and comedy are presented in small segments that are evocative of what radio used to be before television changed it forever.
For 30 years, Hannan taught art, television, computers, advertising, and film at Black Hawk College. He is a nationally known calligrapher, author, and illustrator. He has produced television programs on art appreciation, art history, Native Americans, and Egyptology.
“Specifically for Seniors” is a partnership between Senior Voice and the Davenport Public Library. Join us on the last Wednesday of each month, now through November, at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairmount Street Library to listen and view entertaining and educational presentations from local professionals and celebrities.
