author_chriscrutcherJoin the Davenport Public Library during the month of April for many exciting events.  On top of our many weekly programs already offered like five story times, an afternoon and an evening game night, a book discussion, and a kids craft, there are many other programs this month as well.

Let’s start with a huge party for our new library mascot Libby, which will be unveiled on Saturday, April 11 at the Fairmount Street Library and a variety show to help raise money for the new Eastern Avenue Library at the Davenport North High School Auditorium sponsored by the Friends of the Davenport Public Library.  That starts off a very busy National Library Week and Super Author Week which features library tours, a family story time with a furry animal from the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, and a visit from the sensational teen author Chris Crutcher.  The week ends with a homerun through a partnership between the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Davenport Public Library, the American Library Association, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum which provides everyone who participates a free ticket to any regular season Quad Cities River Bandits game and could give you a chance to win a trip for two to New York.

Following National Library and Super Author Week, we have Money Smart Week (MSW) the week.  MSW Quad Cities runs from April 18 – April 25.  The Davenport Public Library will have four events for MSW including “Smart Supermarket Shopping,” screening of the movie Maxed Out, a session on budgeting tips and tricks, and Community Shred Day that concludes MSW  on Saturday, April 25.  Money Smart Week is sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
Then we finish off the month with two great events; Genealogy Night at the Main Street Library after hours on Sunday, April 26 and a sensational program for seniors entitled, “The Weather and You” on Wednesday, April 29.

Don’t be left behind!  Be sure to check out our web calendar for specific dates, times and locations.
