The Davenport Public Library is pleased to announce a new partnership with the African American Museum of Iowa. Davenport native, Tyla Cole, has joined the Museum as the new Eastern Iowa Coordinator, and will provide all of Eastern Iowa with great museum services and outreach. Tyla is stationed at Davenport Public Library’s Fairmount Street location, and will be helping the Library provide programs highlighting African-American heritage. Tyla Cole brings several years experience in public relations work, and is currently working toward her MBA at St. Ambrose University. She is excited to be part of the Museum family. There will be a special reception for her on Thursday, October 30, from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm, at the Main Street Library (321 Main Street). The public is invited to meet and greet Tyla. Special words of encouragement from Museum Director, Thomas Moore, and Library Director, LaWanda Roudebush, will take place at 2:30 pm. Enjoy light refreshments as we welcome Tyla Cole in her new position. The African American Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa is located in Cedar Rapids.
