We’re crazy busy right now, planning numerous programs for you! This autumn is going to be full of fun family events, and we want you to have a sneak peek at what’s coming! We’ll have more detailed blogs about the following events soon, but here’s a little to get you pumped for what’s on the horizon.
September 6 – Interactive History Day! Free horse & buggy rides, civil war performers, music, storytelling, children’s crafts, cannon fire, and a whole lot more! Plan to spend the whole day at the Fairmount Street Library.
September 27 – Kid Gladiators! Run the inflatable obstacle course and win prizes! Part of the “Go Healthy Kids” challenge sponsored by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the American Heart Association, and the William J. Clinton Foundation. Locally sponsored by QC Family Focus. Plan on being at the Fairmount Street Library from 2-4 for action-packed fun and a few surprises along the way.
October 5 – 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Edward Durell Stone building. From 1-3:30, we will be celebrating the ruby anniversary with a party entitled, “A Ruby Renaissance.” Come see how much the Library has changed in 40 years. (And how much it has stayed the same). Displays, a carnival atmosphere for the kids including entertainment from magician Rick Eugene, free refreshments, and live music from Ellis Kell. It’s going to be a grand celebration! Parking is free in downtown Davenport on the weekends! It’s never been a better time to visit the Main Street Library!
Are you totally excited about these events? We are, and want you to come to the LIbrary and experience all of the fun and learning we have available. Keep an eye on the blog or our website, www.davenportlibrary.com, for more information.
