Join legendary musician, composer, actor, director, and writer, Guy Davis, live-in-concert on Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Davenport Public Library, Fairmount Street (3000 N. Fairmount Street) location. Mr. Davis has performed on “Late Night with Conan O’Brian” and nationally syndicated radio programs such as Garrison Keillor’s, “A Prairie Home Companion,” “Mountain Stage,” and David Dye’s, “World Café.”  Even though Davis’s true love is the blues, he’s also had many other successes in his life that included acting in a lead role in the film “Beat Street” and as Dr. Josh Hall on “One Life to Live.”  He made his Broadway musical debut in 1991 in the Zora Neale Hurston/Langston Hughes collaboration “Mulebone.”  Davis also created material for himself such as “In Bed with the Blues: The Adventures of Fishy Waters” and a variety of theatre pieces and plays like “Mudsurfing” and “The Trial: Judgement of the People.”  Davis also wrote, performed, and co-wrote the music for Emmy award winning film “To Be a Man” and his music was used in the national PBS series “The American Promise.”  People in the entertainment industry who consider themselves members of the “Guy Davis Fan Club” are Jackson Browne, Maya Angelou, and Jessica Lange.  To read more about Guy Davis before seeing him perform live at the Fairmount Street Library, visit his webpage at www.guydavis.com. For more information about the event, contact Steve Hart at (563) 328-6833, or visit www.davenportlibrary.com.
