George Washington Carver – Thursday 3/20
This event is a part of the African American Museum of Iowa’s year-long project, Iowa Roots, Global Impact: The Life and Legacy of George Washington Carver. This project includes a major exhibition at the African American Museum of Iowa, traveling exhibits, programs, and more.
The program is sponsored locally by John Deere. Iowa Roots, Global Impact project sponsors include the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust, State Historical Society, Inc., Humanities Iowa and the National Endowment for the Humanities, General Mills, Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area, Pioneer, and many more.

For more information about the African American Museum of Iowa and their programs, visit http://www.blackiowa.orgor call 319-862-2101.Dr. Carlie Tartakov, Professor Emerita at Iowa State University, examines current issues in multicultural education through the lens of Carver’s experience, in her lecture, “George Washington Carver and Multicultural Education.” The lecture, originally planned for February and cancelled due to a large snowstorm, has been rescheduled to be held at the Davenport Public Library, Main Street location (321 Main Street) on Thursday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Theatre Club Rehearsal- Thursday 3/20
The Davenport Public Library is seeking children ages 8-13 to join its Theatre Club. This is a chance for budding artists to learn how to organize a show and perform before an audience. No experience required! The Theatre Club is a reader’s theatre so participants will not need to memorize the script.
Theatre Club rehearsals will be every Thursday from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at the Main Street Library in the Film Room. Rehearsals run from March 6 – April 24. On April 24 there will be a Garden Party performance by the Theatre Club along with games and treats at 4:00 p.m.

Toddle Time – Thursday 3/20
Calling all parents of toddlers! Are you looking for a learning opportunity for your toddler, in a structured, yet fun environment? Look no further! The Davenport Public Library is offering a great program entitled, “Toddle Time,” which is a six-week series of story times developed just for toddlers. In these interactive sessions, an emphasis is placed on concepts, colors, numbers, movement, and song.Due to the overwhelming success of Toddle Time, we are now offering two sessions every six weeks. Join us on Thursdays at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. at the Fairmount Street Library beginning February 7. There are numerous sessions available, so please call 326-7900 for more information, or to register.
