Record Keeping 101 – Be “Money Smart”

Do you keep piles of old bills, paystubs, checkbooks, and tax forms? Do you need to? Find out at an informative seminar entitled “Record Keeping 101,” on Thursday, March 27, at 6:30pm at Davenport Public Library’s Main Street location (321 Main Street), as Deb Bartman from the University of Illinois Extension Office explains which documents you should keep, and which should be shredded to protect your identity. This unique program is offered in conjunction with “Money Smart Week Quad Cities,” sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Registration is not required. Additionally, “Community Shred Day,” a companion program to this seminar will be held on Saturday, April 5, from 1:30 -4:30 pm at the Fairmount Street Library (3000 N. Fairmount Street). This program will allow you the opportunity to bring, in bulk, items ready for document destruction. More information about both programs can be found at www.davenportlibrary.com.   Money Smart Week Quad Cities (MSW) happens April 5-12, 2008. The week corresponds with state-wide efforts that will take place at the same time for MSW Iowa and MSW Illinois. More than 30 local organizations have been meeting on a monthly basis since October to plan, network and leverage resources for a weeklong package of activities and events. “Record Keeping 101” is one of these special events. For a full listing of MSW activities taking place throughout the Quad Cities, visit www.moneysmartweek.org.

Toddle Time – 3/27 at 10:00 & 11:00

Toddle Time – 3/27 at 10:00 & 11:00

TODDLE TIME IS BACK! The Davenport Public Library has added additional dates for the ever-popular, “Toddler Time,” a story time developed just for toddlers.  If you haven’t brought your toddler to this interactive story time, you don’t know what you’re missing! During this special half-hour, librarians will share stories, placing an emphasis on concepts, colors, numbers, movement, and song. It’s a fun time for you and your toddler in a structured environment. Adults also have the opportunity to mingle with other toddler parents!

This six-week program will meet on Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Fairmount Street Library (3000 N. Fairmount Street) from March 20 through April 27. Due to the popular demand, it will also be repeated at 11 a.m. on the same dates.  Please call 326-7900 for more information or visit us online at www.davenportlibrary.com
