Did you know that the Mississippi River is changing so often that it is almost impossible to measure its length? Different groups cannot agree on how long the river is because it changes and moves and gives people different lengths when they measure it. Scientists at Itasca State Park say the river is 2,552 miles long. The US Geologic Survey says 2,320 miles, and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area says 2,350. Can you imagine your parents measuring you and getting a different number every time?Join us on Mississippi Mondays to learn about the remarkable river that is part of our community.
