At the bottom of the Mississippi River is one of the largest wetlands in the world in an area called Lake Pontchartrain. Because Lake Pontchartrain (which isn’t really a lake but a large estuary) is so huge, an enormous bridge was built to get across it. Called the largest bridge over water in the world, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge is over 24 miles long!
