Little Bitty Book Review: A Filth of Starlings

A Filth of Starlings: A Compilation of Bird & Aquatic Animal Group Names by PatrickGeorge

I deeply loved this book because of its clever design and the concept behind the work. Using brilliant two-page spreads displaying each animal in colorful shadow, PatrickGeorge has created easily recognizable concept art that ties in to the text. Each spread shows a particular species of animal with accompanying text that explains what a group of each animal is called.  The pictures will have appeal to a much younger group than the text, however, which seems to have been written with an older reader in mind. This will work well with child/parent reading, and it is a perfect book for a child who is wise beyond her years.
