Food Friday

A few hundred years ago, how could you tell if someone liked to bake, or made their living baking?  They wouldn’t have any hair on their arms.  Early bread ovens were built into the chimney of a hearth.  Bakers would light a fire in the hearth, let it burn down, and wait for the bricks in the chimney to get hot.  How would they check?  By sticking their arms up the chimneys…and burning off all their arm hair.  Tasty!

Join us on Food Fridays to learn about the things we eat (or don’t want to eat).
