Baby Lit Bits

It’s so fun to recite nursery rhymes while doing those endless tasks – like changing diapers!  And yet another example of how much fun learning can be!  Don’t tell the baby, but you’re actually teaching not only that Mary really shouldn’t be bringing farm animals to school, but that words are broken down into sound patterns of smaller and smaller bits.  Yep.  Phonics.  Phonological awareness – one of the building blocks of early literacy.

Oh — forgot all the words to the rhymes you grew up with?  Check out Mother Goose at j398.8 at your favorite library branch.

Baby Lit Bits are designed using the latest research to help adults find easy and manageable ways to help the babies in their lives get ready to read.
