Thinker Thursday

Around 1853, Amelia Bloomer did something extraordinary.  She invented pants for women.  Before 1853 it was considered scandalous for women to wear pants.  Ms. Bloomer hoped that pants would be a step toward women getting some of the rights men had, including riding a bicycle.  What were Amelia’s new pants called?  Bloomers.
