When Linus Yale invented the Yale lock in 1861, he probably didn’t know that Yale would become one of the most popular types of locks in the world.  But, the credit for the invention can’t go only to Yale.  Yale based his ideas off of inventions made by the ancient Egyptians.  New technology based on very, very old technology.
