Many people have heard of the Great Wall of China, but what about Hadrian’s Wall? Hadrian was a Roman emperor who wanted to put a wall around “civilization” to keep the “barbarians” out. The “barbarians” were the people living north of England in Scotland. Hadrian wanted his soldiers to build a 73 mile-long wall connecting the North Sea to the Irish Sea. When it was finished, it reached between 13-15 feet straight up. Talk about not liking your neighbors!
