William the Conqueror, way back in 1078, build the Tower of London to keep his enemies away. Since then, the Tower has been home to the British royal family, it has been used as a prison, and it has stood as a symbol of England. The tower has also been home to the jewels of the royal family, as well as many, many ravens. A British saying states that the Tower of London will stand as long as the ravens remain.
