There’s been a lot of talk lately about the cougars that are moving into Iowa.  Check out these books and learn the facts about these beautiful animals.

The Cougar by Nathan Aaseng is a book for the serious young naturalist.  Mr. Aaseng grew up in Minnesota and worked as a microbiologist for four years before becoming a writer.  He was inspired to write this book by his son who is “totally fascinated with wild animals”.  This book is full of fascinating facts and history about the cougar.  At the back of the book is a list of organizations to contact for more information about this amazing North American native.  You’ll learn a whole lot about cougars if you give this book a read!

Mountain Lions by Scott Wrobel is part of the Northern Trek series and is beautifully illustrated with photos and captions of North America’s largest predator.  Although an adult male can weigh up to 200 pounds, the mountain lion is actually closely related to the domestic cat!  Like a house cat, the mountain lion purrs when it’s content.  Check out the book and learn more about this beautiful and graceful animal.
